Kyle Chandler Heads to Broken City

"Super 8" star Kyle Chandler will join Mark Wahlberg and Russell Crowe in Allen Hughes' political thriller "Broken City."

Kyle Chandler will play the candidate's campaign manager. The story centers on Mark Wahlberg's character, a private investigator hired by the mayor (Russell Crowe) to find his wife's lover. The detective comes to learn dark secrets about the mayor during the course of his investigation, which puts his life in danger.

Allen Hughes is directing Broken City from a screenplay by Brian Tucker. Broken City is currently shooting in New Orleans.

Mrs. Michael Douglas Joins Broken City!

Actress Catherine Zeta-Jones has joined the cast of Broken City for 20th Century Fox and director Allen Hughes.

The story centers on a Brooklyn private detective (Mark Wahlberg), who is hired by the New York City mayor (Russell Crowe) to discover the identity of his wife's lover. When the lover turns up dead, the detective digs deeper into the case and discovers a vast conspiracy involving the mayor. Catherine Zeta-Jones will portray the mayor's wife.

Allen Hughes is directing Broken City from a screenplay by Brian Tucker. The script made the Black List in 2008. Mark Wahlberg will also produce Broken City alongside Randall Emmett, George Furla, and Stephen Levinson.

Production is slated to begin in November on a $50 million budget.

Russell Crowe Signs On For Mayoral Run In ‘Broken City’

Russell Crowe has signed onto star in Broken City for director Allen Hughes and Emmett/Furla Films.

We reported back in November that Mark Wahlberg signed onto star in Broken City, portraying an ex-cop who is hired by the mayor to find out if his wife is cheating on him. Russell Crowe will play the mayor, whose scandalous city dealings are also uncovered by Mark Wahlberg's character.

Allen Hughes is directing Broken City from a screenplay by Brian Tucker, which made the Black List in 2008. Mark Wahlberg will also produce alongside Stephen Levinson, Randall Emmett, George Furla, and Allen Hughes.

Production is scheduled to start on Broken City in November on a $60 million budget.

Mark Wahlberg Is At Broken City

While out promoting his upcoming drama The Fighter, Mark Wahlberg revealed to MTV that he plans to shoot Broken City at the end of next year, with Allen Hughes directing. Here is what Mark Wahlberg had to say about the project:

 "There's this other thing, Broken City,' that I want to do... at the end of next year with Allen Hughes directing. It's on the Black List. It's one of the best-unproduced screenplays. It's an amazing piece of material that should attract amazing talents. Hopefully we'll get that thing together. It's a crime, mystery. It's in the same vein as those old classics. Chinatown. Even L.A. Confidential. Films like that."

Brian Tucker wrote the screenplay for Broken City, which is a neo-noir thriller that finds Wahlberg starring as an ex-cop named Billy Taggart, who loses his job after shooting a sixteen year old high school student. Eight years after the incident, Taggart, now a P.I., is hired to investigate the cheating wife of a mayoral candidate.

Broken City comes to theaters January 18th, 2013 and stars Mark Wahlberg, Russell Crowe, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Alona Tal, Natalie Martinez, Barry Pepper, Kyle Chandler. The film is directed by Allen Hughes.
